Is the RAM RHO a complete disappointment? Of course not! It follows the same path as the Ford F-150 Raptor, featuring a six-cylinder engine and breathtaking performance. However, there’s no denying that the departure of the RAM TRX left many brand enthusiasts frustrated and confused. The most ironic part? Ford now offers a V8 in the Raptor, while RAM’s performance truck no longer has one.
According to several rumors circulating online, it seems likely that RAM is planning to bring back the TRX as early as 2026.
Honoring Tradition
Stellantis has undergone significant changes under Carlos Tavares’ leadership. However, since his departure, all divisions within the group seem eager to revisit the tried-and-true formulas that have worked well in the past.
A New RAM TRX
The return of the TRX name to the RAM lineup also signals the comeback of a V8, which will surely please fans of the model. The previous TRX was powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 producing a staggering 702 horsepower. In comparison, the RAM RHO features a turbocharged six-cylinder engine delivering 540 horsepower. While still an impressive performance truck, it lacks the raw symphony of a roaring V8 and the distinctive whine of a supercharger.
Expectations are high for the return of the RAM TRX. Some rumors suggest that the truck could come with even more power. It wouldn’t be surprising if RAM equipped the TRX with the same engine found in the Hellcat Redeye versions of the Challenger, potentially pushing output up to 797 horsepower.
Multiple V8 Options
Other rumors suggest that RAM isn’t just bringing back the 6.2-liter supercharged V8. There is also talk of reviving the 5.7-liter and 6.4-liter V8s. Honestly, I believe this would be the best move RAM could make. The V8 engines were still highly appreciated before their removal from the market, and bringing them back would have a very positive impact on the brand’s image.
